Hello, everybody. Let me forewarn you that this edition is a bit different than my usual entries. I am upset. Peeved. Annoyed. Pissed-off and tired of being pissed on. Angry about the judgments and stereotypes society has passed on. Men and women will never be considered equals. Why is that, Jorge? Because - there are too many double standards floating around.
The idea for this topic came to me from a situation that was brought to me in a discussion the other day. I was talking to my friend, Iron Mike about life and the subject of work came up. He was telling me that he was brought under fire over a comment he made to a female colleague. She took offense and reported him to a higher-up. The people at the office automatically branded him as a pervert and began to treat him differently. Why? Why does a man automatically have to be a pervert for a comment? Why is the woman generally perceived to be the victim?
I have been the "victim" of harassment before. I have had women comment on my physical features, tell me what they want to do with me and some have even been bold enough to go out of their way to fondle me.
Not that I minded some of the attention, but some of it made me rather ill. I guess I'm a punk now - I mean, what dude doesn't want someone fawning over him? Isn't that what everyone wants?
There are a number of other issues as well on my mind:
Why is it that if a woman gets beat down and calls the police, you know the man is going to jail; but if a man calls the police after getting his ass whipped, he is a PUNK! When I was younger, I had a "friend" who was being bullied by a girl. Never mind the fact that she was 5'10", 215 and he was 4'7", 110; he was a sissy. That still tears me up to this day... uh, I mean him... come on, people - she looked like a stunt double for Suge Knight. That was not a fair fight!

Rape. Yes, men can be raped - and I'm not talking about Tiny Tim in Cellblock 4. I'm talking about women using force or deception to get the goodies. Rape of males by females is widely, but incorrectly, considered impossible because if a man gets hard, society sees this as being a willing participant, when, in fact, it could be involuntary. Especially when you have fools around here popping blue diamonds like Pez... take too many of those and you'll have more wood than a forest preserve.

Why is that if a woman sleeps with numerous partners, she is considered to be a hoe - but if a man does it, he's a pimp? To paraphrase the great Andre 3000: A woman is not a ho, she just knows what she wants out of life. More power to those who share that belief. In the court of Jorge, you are only deemed promiscuous if you are diseased ridden and do not use any discretion when selecting your partners; other than that, let free love ring!
That's enough out of me today... I can't think of anything else because men are generally more lazy... oh, wait - is that a double standard, too? Too late now - I'm leaving the rest of these things up for discussion - see y'all on Tuesday!

There is a double standard because men continually perpetuate the stereotype that women should be treated differently. Men are arrogant and pompass and inconsiderate and....
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry, I figured I'd start you off with one crazy Angry Black woman comment for the day.
Very good, carry on.
What you gon do with all junk? All that junk inside your trunk.
ReplyDeleteI must say that I am guilty of harassing Jorge as well as a plethora of other males. I am not going to say that it's right. I know it's not. BUT, now you know how women feel. So that makes me feel a lil better about it. I realize that I got a lil off track but I really wanted to say that.
Most of the time, I liked the molestation but there were some who got carried away... like the time I almost got stripped down to my booty butt-cheeks in the gym!
ReplyDeleteThe draft was not pleasant at all...
LOL You ARE lazy, Jorge! What are you SUPPOSE to be doin' right now, huh?
ReplyDeleteWorkin' - but that's beside the point... that junk is overrated!
ReplyDeleteAahhhhhhh, good ole double standards. What would the world be without them? EQUAL--my thoughts exactly. My thing is, if you can dish it out you can take it. Better yet, lemme use this cliche...WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE, IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER. Women always "want" a gentleman. A man who is respctful to them and knows how to "behave" in front of a lady. However, when you are dishing out sexual innuendo and making other crass comments, YOU stop behaving like a lady. So don't try to call me out on comments I made, when you have been guilty as well.
ReplyDeleteYet it is not seen as that, and we (MEN) are partly to blame, George. By past injustices of not allowing women to vote, chauvinism, gender-bias, etc. we have created a hostile environment for women, even when in truth it is not hostile. So Dick and Jane can be making anatomical jokes in the break room, laughing until milk comes out their noses. But if Jane goes back to her cubical and review in her mind what just transpired SHE might be able to deduce that SOME harrassment may have occurred. BAM!!! Then you are left looking like Clarence Hill at a femninist rally. Sounds a lot like what probably happened to your partner.
It's not fair. It just isn't. Oh well.
Ever noticed how, as a man, you're not offended by a woman feeling you up unless she isn't attractive? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, there are double standards, but I don't think it's just men's fault that they exist. I think women lean on those double standards when it is appropriate for them. That is partially why so many men still buy into them.
Being the devil's advocate that I can be, I'll address something Jorge glossed over in his blog. I want to comment on the male rape scenario. Ladies, I don't think you understand that if a lady says no, we are supposed to understand and be cool wit it. When a guy says no (some of you are thinking "is this possible") we are either a) boning another chick, b) gay, or c) boning another chick and gay. Men across America are on the receiving end of the male rape. Some of you are thinking "how is that rape?" Well, by definition, any forced sexual action is considered rape, and if a man feels "forced" to have sex to avoid all the bs that his partner gives him, then the shoe fits. Am I reaching a little bit here? Maybe, but you cannot deny the correlation. Am I comparing this to a woman being raped? Absolutely not. However, the issue should be brought to light, and the ladies need to be more sensitive of our wants (or lack of). We don't have the luxury of the headache.
ReplyDeleteSo, such a situation exists? Men decline sex and/or sexual activities. Who knew? What are some of the reasons that you have declined the booty?
ReplyDeleteNot to make aleft turn from Jorge's very valid topic of double standards(I'll be back to that later) but Zero,be honest.when has a guy ever turned down the booty except for a) being involved seriously b) being gay) or c) deemed the female "unworthy".other than those and the 3rd reason still is usually very hard to come by,males very rarely decline sex.Hence, "the power of the kitty".The power comes in the fatc that we know that it can be used to manipulate whenever we see fit because it is rarely turned down.I ask also, for what reason, other than those already mentioned, have you declined the booty?
ReplyDeleteReasons I have turned down the kitty.
ReplyDelete1) They weren't attractive
2) I just plain didn't feel like it. I would have rather went to sleep.
3) The woman had tried to manipulate me by holding out at an earlier time, and I wanted to let her see how it feels.
4) Because I realized during foreplay this chick was entirely too freaky with somebody she really didn't know.
5) Because my video game was more interesting at that moment.
6) She forgot to brush her teeth.
7) She just laid there.
But back to the subject of manipulation. Why in the world would a woman want to manipulate somebody using her "kitty"? What type of person does that make her? To me, a lady who does that is no better than the drug dealer who trades a rock for some head. If a lady can't get her man (or any man)to do something without holding a piece of "good" in front of him, that woman needs to examine herself closely. Why? Cuz it ain't gonna always be good, and then they ask in ten years why is he screwing around. Cuz he found some that isn't raggedy, used, and doesn't give him grief for wanting to get it. Ladies, you want to keep a man, you better offer some "peace" and not some "piece".
But that's just my humble view.
Touche!!!
ReplyDeleteHmm, Jorge Mateo very interesting subject.. But first of all you liked when we stripped you down.. Come on you allowed it to happen twice, after the first time why would you be caught dead or alive in those damn tear away pants, huh huh?????? Moving on, society has set plenty of double standards but lets be real... Women have to appear to be ladies in public and freaks in the bed, and whatever else that happens always remember to "appear" to be a lady.. That way people would never have you pegged.. Men are hoes but hey society can choose not to blame them for not being able to settle down, but reality speaks that you are a hoe and it really makes no difference if all your women know about each other you still have whorish ways. So truth of the matter there is a double standard, but wait there is more, society sees it but you only have one life to live so if you know what you want then by all means feel free to go and get it......
ReplyDeleteWell said, Zero k.
ReplyDeleteLet me get in on this.
I find it interesting that a lot of females have a hard time believing that a man can/has/will turn down sex for several reasons. It says a lot about the female mentality, in general, thus my comment about females helping to perpetuate these double standards. As some of you have said, women use the "kitty" to manipulate men. I should say TRY to use, because a man that has better options will just go elsewhere. But females act as if men aren't aware of this fact. I think a lot of men become accustomed to this type of behavior from women, and as Zero k stated, you end up getting stepped out on. My point is this, as long as some women try to use sex as a weapon, it will have an effect on men's perception of women as a whole. And the double standards will exist boldly because there will be no incentive to change them.
I see things have been hot in here while I've been gone... can somebody give some introspective on the sexual harrasment situation?
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about double standards. I watch and I listen to so much crap. A woman can say whatever she wants to a man and it's not considered to be harassment unless she is his supervisor. A woman can key a car, make all kinds of threatening calls and nothing be done by the police, but let the opposite happen. What has happened so that if you are offended by what somebody says to you that you can't say I don't like what you said and let that be it?
ReplyDeleteWord of warning to men:
1. All that glitters is not gold, just repackaged and made to look new.
2. All free stuff ain't necessarily free. Even in the ads that say the product is free, you are responsible for shipping and handling.
3. If it doesn't look right, smell right, or taste right, throw it out !
Jorge my man, you touched on quite a few different situations but i think the main topic is sexual harassment in the workplace... totally different from throwing a cat-call out from the construction site to the catholic school girls headed to piano practice. Sure it's true the hormones don't shut off during the hours between 9 and 5 but corporations go thru countless hours offering 'manditory' sexual harassment training because as everyone's mama has told them HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED... if you have that urge to blurt out 'nice rack patty' at work, it could have the worst result possible, not her telling the boss-folk, but her leading a 5 year long campaign to smudge your name amongst any and all future co-worker/business partners just because she feels uncomfortable. Men on the other hand, we tend to have a shorter attention span and if i get slapped on the butt on Tuesday, better believe by Thursday I've forgotten all about it.
ReplyDeletePimp Hand has a strong point also about the attractivity, if you will, of a woman who's feeling us up having a strong impact on how we perceive it. We all remember the swimming segment of phys ed in highschool when brushing elbows with the certain pretty girl group would pop the massivist of woodies and we prayed they didn't blow the whistle to get outta the pool until it went down... but when big shirley (sorry if anyone's actually named shirley or has loved ones who are... this isn't meant to offend) came to your side of the pool trying to dunk you under water, she could have a handful of ballsack and you wouldn't even flinch in that area.
As for the physical abuse, hell yea a dude should be locked up for striking a woman. The law typically leans towards the woman's side and i think that's something that does deserve the double standard... that's just my thoughts on it
Hmm I love the idea behind this website, very unique.
